Having a plan of action is the first thing you need to do. As a San Diego wedding photographer I have seen how this is so important.Because a wedding day is very hectic and crazy. There will be a lot of pressured and stressed out people. Because of that it is easy for you to lose control of the day. But by having a plan of what shots you want to take and when you will be able to keep people in control.
Another thing are weddings are big events. At least most weddings are. And even the small ones are in reality big events to the people involved. Finally treat the job with high sense of professionalism.
